This week the spotlight is on the women in our business as we celebrate and raise awareness for International Women’s Day (IWD).
When did you join ABN AMRO?
I joined the company, when it was Venture Finance in 2000, the week of the Christmas party and yes, I did go.
Where did you come from?
I have worked in the industry for 30 years. Prior to ABN AMRO, I worked at Royal Bank Invoice Finance, before that I was at International Factors/BNY.
What is your role here at ABN AMRO?
I have been Team Lead of Asset Admin for eight years. There is a team of eight people and we are responsible for the Commercial Clients Month End Reports reserves. I have been working on Month End Reports since 1992, so I think I know how to do them now :) In Asset Admin, we are actively looking to make constant improvements to our processes.
What’s the biggest value-add your role brings to clients?
Asset Admin have good working relationships with clients to ensure, with the Month End Reserves, they have the correct funds available.
Who do you mainly interact with?
In my role I interact with nearly all the departments in Commercial Finance, as well as with the clients, who are in all the different segments of the business.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
The diversity of the role and no two days are the same.
What does this year’s International Women’s Day theme #BalanceforBetter mean to you?
Everyone should be treated as equal in all walks in life.
Who is a female you admire and why?
My Mum – when I was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, she was told I would not walk and talk. She didn’t agree with that and persevered with my physio and learning. It is due to her where I am now. Also my mum makes great cakes!
Where do you live?
I live in Brighton with my partner, Andy, and our 2 fur babies (cats) Jackie and Checkie
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love going to see anything live, concerts (mainly a-ha) and theatre (musicals).
I also enjoy going on holiday to new places and sampling the local life.
What is your favourite film?
So many… My favourite era is films from 1940’s to 1960’s. My go to films are:
It’s a Wonderful Life – No words why
The King & I – I cry every time I watch it etc., etc., etc.
Whatever Happened to Baby Jane – Bette Davis is one of the greatest actors
Rocky Horror Picture Show – Makes me shiver with antici…pation
What is your favourite kind of meal?
Recently this has been South American, anything with coconut.
What was your earliest ambition?
I wanted to write novels, as I love reading. I’m sure I have a novel somewhere hidden inside of me.
