At ABN AMRO Commercial Finance, we take Corporate Social Responsibility seriously and work hard to fundraise for various charities throughout the year.
On Saturday 8 September, we competed in the 2018 Funraisers Dragon Boat Festival at Bewl Water in Kent to raise money for St Michael’s Hospice.
This is the fourth time we have competed in the annual event. Over the last three years we have raised over £6,500 for this event with all funds going to St. Michaels Hospice. This year, the ABN AMRO team, ‘Skool Daze’, raised a further £2,200 for the charity.
Hundreds of people come together to display their paddle power and work together in aid of a good cause. Since the event began in 1998, over £2.7 million has been raised for more than 400 local, national and international charities.
Our team paid homage to the start of a new school year, dressed as School Nerds and raced in Chinese style dragon boats on a 250-metre course against 51 teams.
The race times were as follows:
Race 1 - 01:33.63
Race 2 - 01:25.94
Race 3 - 01:19.11 – Our best time EVER!
The team qualified for the 12 Boat Final, a first for ABN AMRO, where we took 10th place at a time of 01:27.52!
A huge thank you goes out to all our rowers, supporters and to our CSR team for all their hard work organising this fantastic charity event.
Well done to everyone who participated, it really was a great day!
