When did you join ABN AMRO?
Mid August 2018…. (The honeymoon has most definitely finished!).
Where did you come from?
I spent the previous 4 years at Close Brothers as Chief Operations Officer (Premium Finance & Retail Finance divisions). Prior to that, I spent 17 years within the Insurance sector, in roles such as Managing Director – Operations, and various leadership positions.
What is your role here at ABN?
Director of Business Services for ABN AMRO Asset Based Finance (ABF), working with both Lease and Commercial Finance business lines.
I’m responsible for leading the teams covering Asset Administration, Payments, Collections and Data Management (under the umbrella of Client Services), in addition to leading our Facilities Management teams. I’m also responsible for representing the Chief Innovation & Operations Office (CIOO) here in the UK.
What’s the biggest value-add your role brings to clients?
I’m passionate about our ability to service our clients, and am heavily involved in the design and implementation of our products, processes and the systems we use, both internally and directly with our clients. My role helps to future proof our proposition, and continues to make us an easy partner to do business with.
A good example of this was being involved in our recent ‘Upgrade’ program – implementing systems and processes which help provide tangible value to our clients.
Who do you mainly interact with?
I mainly work with ABF teams across Business Services, Facilities, IT, CIOO and our Management Team in the Netherlands, Germany, France and here in the UK.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I love the diversity, one minute I can be resolving a specific client query, and the next moment I’m involved in helping to shape our ABF strategy. I’m lucky to have a great team around me in Business Services – which allows me to help focus on transforming and future proofing ABF. I’m also really enjoying the international nature of the role.
Where do you live?
In a village right on the south coast – East Preston (I love being near the beach!).
What do you like to do in your spare time?
When not in work, I’m pretty busy with my 3 kids – coaching their football teams, taxiing them to various clubs and activities! We also have a black Labrador, so I really enjoy taking him and the family for long walks along the beach and up the Sussex downs… we also love to go out for dinner, trying different foods and restaurants – any excuse not to cook!
What is your favourite film?
I have two top favourites; Shawshank Redemption and also Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
What is your favourite kind of meal?
I LOVE a curry, or Italian food is also a firm favourite.
What was your earliest ambition?
Apart from wanting to be a stuntman (!) when I was really young, I always wanted to play football… and I was lucky enough to have some great experiences playing football to a high level – but decided to choose the life of Financial Services! Now, I love being in roles that help deliver transformation, leading teams of people and business functions, seeing them grow and develop – and importantly to have fun doing so.
