2018 CSR Round Up

News - 11 January 2019

At ABN AMRO we take Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) very seriously. Every year, thanks to our hard working CSR team, ABN AMRO staff work to fundraise for various local charities and organisations.

Take a look at some of our 2018 CSR highlights:

Quarterly charities:

Each quarter we focus our fundraising efforts onto a particular charity. Our charities for 2018 were:

Q1 – British Heart Foundation – raised £2,558.55
Q2 – Care for Veterans – raised £2,357.17
Q3 – Know Dementia – raised £3,805.74
Q4 – Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation – raised £3,068.32

In addition to this we have made donations to many other charities including Children in Need, Demelza Children’s Charity and Macmillan.

Staff volunteered at the St. Peter & St. James Hospice throughout the year, sorting through public donations and helping to get the garden ready for the Hospice’s annual “Open Gardens” weekend.

Steve Towner Day:
Steve Towner was a much loved colleague who sadly passed away from Motor Neurones Disease in 2015. Each year, on his Birthday, staff come together to remember Steve and raise funds for the local branch of the Motor Neurones Disease Association (MDNA). This year over £550 was raised.

Staff fundraising:
In addition to the CSR organised events, some staff fundraise independently. In 2018 their fundraising efforts included a Firewalk, the Worthing 10k, Race for Life, a skydive and more!

The Dragon Boat Race:
In September, a team of ABN AMRO staff competed in the annual Funraisers Dragon Boat Festival at Bewl Water in Kent, raising over £2,200 for St Michael’s Hospice.

The team qualified for the 12 Boat Final, a first for ABN AMRO, where we took 9th place at a time of 01:19.11!

The Child of Sussex Awards:
We have been proud sponsors of the annual Child of Sussex awards for the past four years. Last year’s ceremony took place on the 12th October at the Brighton Hilton Metropole. The Awards are designed to celebrate the achievements of the country’s most precious assets: its children. Our very own Commercial Assistant, Lisa Wright, had the honour of presenting the Sporting Star Award.
Overall we had a really great year; a huge thank you goes to our wonderful CSR team and to everyone who has got involved!

Our fundraising grand total for 2018 is £21,501.88!

We will continue to help fundraise and support local charities throughout 2019. Our Q1 charity for this year is Sussex Search & Rescue.
